What is Stress?
Assumptions of stress Stress is the ‘wear and tear’ conditioning of the body, which reflects physical and emotional effects altogether. It normally happens when you are worried or uncomfortable about something, leading to many disorders in your body like feeling angry, frustrated, scared or afraid and feel irritable. Different individuals have different situations as stressors. The very awareness of the Stressor eliminates half of the stress. Therefore, the first step in learning to control Stress is to find out the stressors. Some of the common stressors are as under: The stress of someone dying.
The stress of a breakup of marriage, and pre, during or post-divorce stress.
The stress of retiring.
Stress of prolonged illness.
Losing money or a job, getting a lot of money is also the cause of stress.
Worrying about the economy is very stressful.
Outcomes/Signs and Symptoms Before discussing ways to manage stress, it is very important to know what typical signs and symptoms are, when experiencing high levels of stress. Exposure to excessive or repeated stress would cause several negative effects on the person. On some people the effects will be visible immediately, whereas on others these will gradually appear as and when the stress is accumulated. Being healthy is not just the absence of illness. It comes with a positive state of mind as well.
Research & surveys on the effects of Stress indicate that it is linked to all leading causes of death, such as cancer, heart attacks, lungs infection, accidents and even suicide.
Stress does not directly cause illness, but it can trigger allergies, gastrointestinal problems, arthritis, skin breakouts, asthma or migraines among people who are already prone to these conditions. Migraines become so much worse when one is under stress. If someone is trying to do too much at one time (as preparing for final exams), he usually knows he will get a migraine.
Higher number of visits to primary care physicians for stress also relates disorders/complaints.
Mostly the adults suffer adverse health due to stress.
High stress include: aches, pains, a loss of appetite or compulsive eating, digestive problems, stammering or speaking too fast, grinding teeth during sleep and a reduced sex-desire.
Emotional symptoms Unchecked stress can be the root of destroying relationships, losing jobs/promotions and killing someone. Indirectly, stress is one of the biggest killers around us which needs immediate handling.
Other results of stress can be insomnia, hypertension (high blood pressure), depression and anxiety, smoking, weight gain or weight loss, alcoholism and other substance abuse, immune system problems and resultant infections, mood swings and skin problems etc.

Poor memory resulting lack of concentration.
Changes in sleeping & eating patterns.
Low self esteem.
